Dare To Dream the Impossible Dream...Chase it...

Mon Apr 11, 2005, 2:05 PM
Monday, and feeling a bit sick, some minor cold apparently. Not bad, just that my throat is acting like if it was going through puberty and feeling a bit dry. But there is something else making me feel ill, more on a psychological level.

It's when you find out someone is of a mentality that is just downright offensive. I don't know about you guys, but I absolutely feel ill when I meet people with great potential, but expect that because on potential alone they're going to succeed.

They're not willing to cultivate it, work on it, practice it in order to get to know what they're capable of, to get to know who they are in order to then become successful with themselves and to fully realize thier potential. They live life expecting success to be handed over to them because someone else believes in their potential. In my mind this is a sellout, and a real bad one at that.

Let's say, for example, someone started writing a novel or some sort of book. It has great ideas and an otherwise good execution, but it's not finished, no where near its end or its best execution, on top of that, only a select few friends and acquaintances have read it, and for the most part think it's good. But the person believes that based on this alone they will be able to approach the publisher, give them the work, and be handed a contract to write books for the publisher and be successful.

Where's the learning process, the desire to work hard, the desire to cultivate your craft for yourself, dare to go through hardships and experiences to know yourself better and claim success solely on yourself?

It offends me when people have this idea in their heads. And it's worse when the person blames others' success by saying they had it good since the beginning; they had a head start, but then just sit there feeling sorry for themselves.

I started analizing the person and how they lived their lives and it struck me that this person has defined their lives on this mentality. Alaways dreaming of the personal success, but never under their own terms, never under their own will to overcome their obstacles, never by fully exercising the skills they have been granted.

Then, when discussing matters of our country (Puerto Rico) the person considers my opinions on what I believe should be the right course of action completely invalid and simply says: "this conversation is over" while still explaining my opinions.

Furthermore they said the matters discussed would never be resolved because "people are too stupid", "they dream the impossible", "we should take what is handed to us because we cannot attain it on our own."

To these people I ask: Then what is your purpose in this life?

Hello Pedro, I am leaving DA (read more here;). I will continue to showcase my work outside of DeviantART, in my personal Website. I will still be reachable here in case you have any questions about this move, but if you wish to skip a step you can simply go to my site www.somargraphics.com.

-Emyll Somar

P.S. If you have work that you can’t post to DA because of its mature content, my group APN Nudes might be a place you could do so without violating some lame policy.

Sincerely;

Emyll
